| Wireless network of HIK
Wireless network is available for HIK registered members, employees and Eduroam users. Wireless network is accessible everywhere in the institute. Access points allow IEEE 802.11b or IEEE 802.11a standards for network connection.
Using wireless network internet can be reached through the HIK’s firewall.
For those registered members - who have no suitable WLAN network adapter - HIK loans a PCMCIA compatible Wi-fi card. The card can be borrowed at the registration office after leaving a deposit.
Our system is connected to Eduroam (Education Roaming: an international network between research institutions.) which means that Eduroam users from all other institutions can use their original username and password in HIK.
[List of connected local National Research and Education Networks can be found on www.eduroam.org. Connecting and configuring the wireless network can be dissimilar between vary institutes.]
Users have to configure their own computers. Help (pdf documents) can be found at the bottom of this page. If you need help please contact our IT assistants in the reading rooms, our colleagues at the information desks or at the registration office.
Bringing private computer in HIK
Visitors can bring in their own portable computer after filling in a form which is then signed by the security guard. When leaving the building the form need to be shown to the guard again! The form can be used for several times, but on every entry it has to be signed by the security guards.
This is still a testing period of the system so if you have any problems please contact our colleagues or mail your opinion or proposal to info@hik.hu!
